A note on licensure and eligibility to serve

Expert witness testimony generally does not require a state license. Service as a party appointed appraiser or as an umpire is treated differently from state to state, and a few states regulate who may fill those roles. The firm confirms that it can serve in the specific role, in the specific jurisdiction, under the specific policy, before accepting any engagement. Where a state requires an adjuster license or a particular appointment to act, the firm will say so rather than take the engagement. Adjusting assignments are accepted only where the firm holds the required license or a valid reciprocal or emergency designation.

Send the matter and the jurisdiction.

Include the caption, the parties, counsel of record, and the carrier. Most conflict checks clear the same day, before any substantive discussion.
