How the engagement works

Engagements are independent contractor (1099) assignments under a written agreement with Choctaw Strategies, LLC, doing business as Okla Risk Advisors. They are not W-2 employee positions: no taxes are withheld and no employee benefits are provided. You may contract as an individual or through your own business entity. Most assignments pay a fee split on each file under the client’s fee schedule; some are paid on a time and expense (T&E) basis. The basis is stated in writing before you accept a deployment. Contractors are encouraged to carry their own errors and omissions, general liability and auto coverage, and some client programs require it. Joining the roster does not guarantee assignments.

Indian preference: as permitted by Section 703(i) of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the firm gives preference to qualified enrolled members of federally recognized tribes and Alaska Native villages living on or near a reservation, and it applies Indian preference in subcontracting on contracts covered by 25 U.S.C. 5307(b). See the Indian preference policy.
