NFIP Flood Adjuster

Certified flood adjusters for National Flood Insurance Program claims after hurricanes, storm surge and riverine flooding. Files are handled to the NFIP Claims Manual and the Write Your Own carrier’s standards, with senior review by an adjuster certified at all four NFIP levels.

What you will do

  • Inspect flood-damaged buildings and contents and document the waterline, measurements and damage.
  • Prepare estimates, proof of loss documentation and narrative reports that meet NFIP and Write Your Own carrier requirements.
  • Apply the Standard Flood Insurance Policy, including building and contents coverage limits and exclusions.
  • Explain the flood claim process, deadlines and documentation requirements to policyholders.

Requirements

  • Current NFIP flood adjuster certification (Flood Control Number) and the required annual NFIP adjuster training.
  • Active property and casualty or all-lines adjuster license.
  • Working proficiency in Xactimate.
  • Ability to deploy to flood events on short notice and work in difficult field conditions.

Preferred

  • Commercial and RCBAP flood certification.
  • Prior hurricane or riverine flood deployments.
  • Familiarity with elevation certificates and substantial damage determinations.

How the engagement works

Engagements are independent contractor (1099) assignments under a written agreement with Choctaw Strategies, LLC, doing business as Okla Risk Advisors. You may contract as an individual or through your own business entity. Contractors are encouraged to carry their own errors and omissions, general liability and auto coverage, and some client programs require it. Fees are set by assignment and client program and are reviewed with you before you accept a deployment.

Indian preference

Indian preference: as permitted by Section 703(i) of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the firm gives preference to qualified enrolled members of federally recognized tribes and Alaska Native villages living on or near a reservation. See the Indian preference policy.

Joining the roster does not guarantee assignments. Deployments depend on event activity, client requirements, licensure and availability. Adjusters on the roster are contacted directly when an assignment matches their licenses, experience and location.
